I'm Rosie Harris, General Manager at Caring Transitions Cincinnati West. Our team and I have been serving seniors and their families on the west side of Cincinnati since August of 2016 when my parents, Tim & Lisa McKinney, purchased the franchise. We knew we wanted to open a business focused on helping people and making a significant difference in our local community. Caring Transitions provides us the opportunity to do just that. Our work focuses on serving the needs of clients during the difficult and stressful times brought on by downsizing, moving and estate liquidation.
Our experienced team is here to help through any household transition, whether downsizing, moving into a safer living situation, relocating across the country or handling an estate. Our services include decluttering, organizing, packing, moving, resettling, liquidating via online auctions or in-person estate sales, and cleaning out homes to prepare for market. It is our mission to approach each client compassionately with a customized plan of solutions that best fit their needs. From sorting through years of memories, working with estate planners, coordinating movers and real estate agents to designing a functional and comfortable floor plan, our team can be involved as much or as little as needed. We’ll serve as an advocate, ensuring the client's best interests are kept in mind throughout the process.
Many clients are transitioning seniors moving from their family home to a condo or independent or assisted living and need help with the logistics of everything including space planning, move management, packing, unpacking, and resettling after the move. This can be incredibly stressful for our clients, and we can confidently walk alongside them as they navigate the process. They are relieved to know they are not alone as they make these big decisions.
Along with senior clients, Caring Transitions also works directly with families as they handle an estate when a loved one has passed. Our team specializes in sorting through belongings and deciding if they need to be sold, donated, or discarded. We work with the family to make sure that they have what they want to keep then deal with the rest. It’s important to recognize that the biggest asset that they have is the sale of the home and they are often left with a huge job of what to do with the stuff to get the house ready to be sold.
Caring Transitions offers a personal touch to moving and downsizing. Most people don’t want to sort through belongings by themselves. People often have an attachment to their physical possessions, and it can be too overwhelming, time consuming and emotional, so we lend a helping hand and offer a listening ear We help families focus on what they need and love while encouraging to let go of unnecessary items they no longer use or have space for.
Our team knows that this is not just a job, but a critical role in serving the senior population that often goes unnoticed or ignored. We work with purpose and intention, treating our clients with the same care and dignity that we would want our own family treated. I am so proud of the respect and concern that they show both the people and the possessions, no matter the circumstances. We try to focus on the things that really matter to a client and relieve the burden of items that no longer serve them, but we know this can be a complicated process. We try to give them as much control as possible in a time where they often feel like control is being taken away from them. We will honor them, respect this very personal situation, and help them get to the other side.
